For a trip with real luggage, start here rather than trying to make a naked bike do the same job. Our V-Strom 250SX can be supplied with both top and side boxes, and its upright adventure-style format is suited to longer paved-road itineraries.

It is a 249 cc, six-speed manual motorcycle with ABS—not an automatic scooter and not something we recommend for learning clutch control in traffic.

Set up for distance

There is no compartment beneath the seat. Instead, the useful space comes from the external luggage system. Let us know what you will carry, because confirming the boxes before delivery is easier than reorganising bags after the bike arrives.

The V-Strom’s appeal is the combination of upright riding, 250 cc capacity and luggage support. We describe it as a strong paved touring option; that should not be read as permission or a promise for off-road use.

A CB150X is lighter and includes a top box, making it a good alternative when side luggage is not essential. The MT-25 is more road-focused and less travel-oriented. The much larger Vulcan S is for riders seeking a cruiser rather than an adventure-style machine.
